Re: 6.8 Levies at Divison 3 / 4
The levies from all events in Scotland and Wales go to both the home nation slalom committee and also the BCU Slalom committee to invest back into slalom and pay on going expenses. In Scotland, levies are currently the only income the SCA slalom committee have (they get no funding from the SCA or an...
Re: Alva?
Hi Jerry The Winter Series has changed slightly this year. There is a double event at Pinkston on 13/14 December and there will be an Alva Slalom in January (probably 10 or 24 January). Hope this helps. If you e-mail me on Catherine-Brown@talktalk.net, I'll make sure you get sent the details once th...

Re: SCA Democratic Influence
The Slalom surplus you mention of £2500 has now been fully spent this year on items that the Slalom committee have prioritised for the benefit of slalom. On the plus side, we are now able to carry forward any unused income to the next calendar year. In previous years, unused income was lost and tran...

Re: SCA Democratic Influence
These motions have been borne out of 2 years of discussions with the SCA Management where the views of a considerable number of the membership have been ignored. The issues raised during this period are all valid issues and should have been heard fairly. If they had been heard fairly and some sort o...

Re: British Open 2014
For those on the waiting list, it was good to see the entry limit being increased to accommodate you. However, the downside is it is now long long days for those involved in running the event and also for some of the competitors (e.g. those doing C1M and C2 as they are racing at 10 am.and don't fini...

Re: Inter Clubs
Well done Jim and Catharine. As those who run events will know, there are many hours that go into running event not only during the weekend but also before and after the race. To run an event for 29 years is an impressive achievement. You have both made a huge contribution to the running of the spor...

C1 Medium Whatelse/Scream/SupremoII
We're looking to buy a medium Whatelse/Scream/Supremo II C1 so that Michael can race in the remaining Premier races (his boat was stolen last week).

Re: HORNBILL CARDIFF BAY PREMIER 2014
Ok - silly question - I can see who in premier has entered (YES in the entered column) but some entries recorded as yes are green and others are not. What does the green mean?

Re: Symonds Yat Enhanced Entry Fee
I fully support the additional payment of £1 as a launching fee. Clubs need to be encouraged to run events and whilst it is certainly not a lucrative way of making money, running an event is a good way for a club to make some money which is then reinvested in the canoe club. 45% of Division 3 and ab...

Price is typically the price of the highest Division running at that event so would be a Div 2 Junior single fee

Kevlar
For those interested in history, the BBC website is reporting that the inventor of Kevlar, Stephanie Kwolek dies. Stephanie Kwolek was a chemist at the DuPont company in Wilmington, Delaware, when she invented the stronger-than-steel fibre in 1965. It was initially intended to be used in automobile ...

Re: New Scottish Coach
Next week, it will be 6 months since most of the squad had an appointed performance coach. Whilst I expected there to be a short gap between the old coaches leaving and a new coach starting, 6 months in the development of athletes is a huge amount of time to lose. Why was the 1 performance coach not...
