Re: ACM Motion 6.3 Entry Limits
Without reading the full wording of the motion, are we happy that we can successfully cope with the following circumstances without needing any further clarification? a) If the organiser has only 200 slots and sets a limit of 180, what happens when there are 30 or 40 officials entries before the dea...

Re: VET points Plan B
Any ideas on how to get a super stretchy body to match the bib?
Glad you're having fun - I always thought that was pretty important point of what we do, although hats off to those who can still hack it at the top level.

Re: VET points Plan B
Definitely go for that ...or perhaps a cup of tea made available in the eddy at about the third upstream gate.

Re: Timing
A bit of simple maths - always subject to assumptions and open to argument! A slalom course should average 300m distance through the gates and take about 100 secs for K1M. Average paddler speed over the course is therefore about 3m/second. A time difference of 1 second between competitors therefore ...

Re: VET points Plan B
Steve, We must stop agreeing with each other - it's not in the proper spirit of competition :-) Main thing to me is whether there is a significant demand to make a change that otherwise risks putting people off, in which case we can do something. Let's see if folks have strong views one way or the o...

Re: VET points Plan B
As usual, people want different things out of their participation and it is difficult to please everyone all the time. I believe the change in Vets competition has stimulated more paddlers to enter more events, and that is the key aim we must not lose sight of. For those, like me, who gain fulfilmen...

Re: ICF Drops C2 from World Events
Is it such a surprise that the TEAMS have dropped the class, when, for many, if not most, funding is judged by medal success alone. If you were in charge of a team, and you knew that you already intensively train both C1M and C1W, what could be easier than picking from the cream and putting two of y...

Re: HPP Div 1 & 2
On the other had I would interpret Rule 5.2.5 as the Vet being eligible to compete at those P/1 events (by right) and can get points and prizes, but the rule does not exclude competing at other events (which it would if the wording said "is ONLY eligible...". Rule 5.7.1 takes the clarification furth...

Is the running order likely to be as per entries received - K1M, K1W....?

Re: C2 Structure for 2018 Season
Looks good to me. If we don't try it, we won't know if it works, and nothing is perfect.
Thanks for your efforts, Steve et al.

Re: Simplifying Vets
Sounds good to me too, would also allow those who maybe haven't reached as high a division as they want to paddle on bigger water that they are happy with (as getting out of div 2 these days can be hard).

Re: The Mysterious Workings of Pan-Celtics
I feel a good starting point would be to try and publish what the Pan-Celtic means to both competitors and national associations. It doesn't even appear to make it into the yearbook list of championship results, and results on the day are subsumed by the individual competitions. I think its purpose ...

Re: C2 Structure for 2018 Season
After a few weeks of radio silence, and lots of interesting comments in the chatroom and in person, it's about time I threw my weight behind some of the ideas discussed. Firstly, we should be clear what we want to achieve and why. 1) The structure of C2 competition must be designed primarily around ...

Well said, Dave. Time for a few of those who really benefit from the system to put a bit more back in, perhaps?
