Re: C2 Structure for 2018 Season
Please give thought to the admin side. C2 Prem/1 is a serious racing division, and in any case it's small and easily managed. In Div 2/3 there are at most a dozen pairs who paddle together for more than a single weekend. The rest of the division - in most years around 130 boats - is made up of scrat...

Re: Age Group
I'm happy to see small people's efforts rewarded at races, but J10 is the lowest age group that has enough competitors for a meaningful league. See http://www.canoeslalom.co.uk/rankings/leagueJ10.shtml

Re: Prem is dead Long live Div 1P
I appreciate that longer is better for organisers, but a key issue here is protecting the right of host-division paddlers to race at their own competitions. Not everyone is in a position to know a month beforehand that they can get to a race, and not everyone can afford to risk a wasted entry fee by...

Re: Prem Paddlers - Percentages - Advice Please
I think the best solution is to treat each Championship event as two races: the Qualification race and the Semis-and-Finals race. Semifinalists and finalists would only get points from the second race, and non-qualifiers would get appropriate points for the qualification race. To illustrate I've com...

Re: Prem is dead Long live Div 1P
To develop DaveBrad's thinking: * Entry limits for this year's 9 Prem races are 200, 200, 200, 200, 170, 200, 150, 150 and 180 - an average of 185. * Historically about 66% of Prem enters each race - and few Prem races have been fully subscribed, so this isn't a "squeezed" number. * On that basis th...

Re: Prem is dead Long live Div 1P
There are really two issues in this thread: 1. Paddlers should be able to get an entry at races arranged for their own division. This one is fair, and I’d like to see a return to the two-week deadline. Setting it at four weeks was looking too sympathetically at the position of paddle-ups, and not ba...

Re: Superfinal Format at Prem Races
Then I think the rule should be amended to: B1.3.2 Super Final Each competitor has a timed qualification race run starting in reverse bib number order. After this run the top x boats in each event proceed to the final. The remaining boats have a second timed run starting in reverse bib number order....

Re: Time to limit or split Premier Division ?
At the priority entry deadline, spare places are allocated to paddle ups who are on the waiting list. The organiser doesn't have the option to prefer host division paddlers. B3.3.2 “Paddle Up” Participation Conditions ... priority of entry shall be as follows: a) Up to the priority entry deadline: H...

Re: Time to limit or split Premier Division ?
I think Dee's view that very few races are really oversubscribed is right, and Dave's assertion that "many" have been wouldn't stand up to analysis, though certainly some have. Not every paddler in a division wants to enter every race (on average you can expect about 66% of Prems at a Prem race and ...

Protests - the new way to good results?
It looks as if the new way to get good results is to try and get some penalties knocked off. I’ve never seen so many protests as at Cardiff, mostly from K1 Men (with paddle ups prominent). It might be better to focus on your performance, and remember: - The section judges are pretty experienced, and...

Re: Online Entries - The Future - Have your Say?
Personally I don't like the "deferred payment" factor on entries for several months ahead. I'd rather my card was debited then and there.

Re: Superfinal Format at Prem Races
There is a time problem with Craig's suggestion. The paddlers who qualify from second runs will get three runs to everyone else's two: and they will need the usual hour minimum gap between runs. That means you have to schedule finals to take place at least an hour after each class's second qualifica...

Re: Superfinal Format at Prem Races
The Czech model as described by Andy Neave sounds good, and time-efficient - and I understood it on one reading. If you want it, a club will have to propose it to the ACM.

Superfinal Format at Prem Races
What do you think of the Superfinal format at Prem races? It’s been put to me that, with most paddlers getting their places and points from the second qualification run, the first run is little more than a practice unless you aspire to a place in the final – and most paddlers know they won't make it...

Dee
Another "what if": my card was valid to October when I put in entries, but it has since split in two and I have a replacement - same card number, etc, but a new expiry date. Problem or not a problem?
