Re: ACM Motion 6.11British Team Ranking
Interesting stats when you look at the events the Senior Team competed at in 2018 C1W - the 3 women competed at 3,4 and 4 events C1M - the 3 men competed at 0, 2 and 2 events K1M - the 3 men competed at 0,0 and 2 events K1W - the 3 women competed at 3,4 and 7 events So some attended no events and so...

Re: ACM Motion 6.11British Team Ranking
Nick Our club had the same discussion. Whoever has bib number 1 should go last in class. They have earned this privilege. To mitigate any concern that they may not get sufficient points to not be demoted, a clause could be added to say that "Any British Senior Team paddler will automatically be rank...

Re: ACM Motion 6.5 Extreme Slalom Rules
My perception is that the ICF are more focussed on Sprint canoeing so maybe we should include the word Sprint in the title and have a test event at HPP on the flat over 200m! Sprint have far more boats at the Olympics and the number of boats for canoeing at the Olympics is unlikely to change so to a...

I wasn't proposing different types of sort just throwing some alternative options into the mix. Whatever is agreed needs to be standard across the board, simple and fair. I don't think the current proposal as it stands is particularly fair.

Re: ACM Motion 6.6 Bib Deposit
Anything that helps avoid the dreaded collection of insufficient postage from the post office will be a help :D It would be great if we can get an online system. So few people have envelopes or stamps these days. It may be more work for the bib officer to have all the right sized envelopes and the r...

Re: ACM Motion 6.6 Bib Deposit
An added complexity is that a couple of the very kind bib officers just bring the bibs to the first race of the season and thus there is no posting and packaging.

Re: ACM Motion 6.2 Paddle Up Priority
Whilst the initial aim of Paddle Up may have been to let those close to promotion gain experience, I'm not sure this is how it is now perceived. At 3 races, there is a Prem race followed by a Division 1. The paddlers entering the Prem race on the Saturday are not doing it for Prem experience, they a...

Re: ACM Motion 6.6 Bib Deposit
CP, I'm not sure what this motion is telling me?
I can see that an online system for applying for bibs would be useful but that this isn't available yet.
Is the bib deposit going up to £10?

Re: ACM Motion 6.4 Course Erection
I would prefer this motion to differentiate between Prems and Div 1s. Paddlers will often travel on the Friday for a Prem race to get some water time before the course is set as each course is so different so it is beneficial if paddlers know what time the course is set and that this is not before 4...

Re: ACM Motion 6.3 Entry Limits
It looks like we need 2 limits - 1. Limit for the paddlers competing in the ranking/open race 2. Limit for officials I also wondered whether for some sites where water time is scarce whether officials could get water time rather than officials runs - this would largely apply at Div1 and Prems were t...

Re: C1 Promotion points
completely agree - nothing is ever simple! The numbers in each division, particularly Prem and Div 1 need to be manageable so that paddlers in these divisions can get entries in the ranking race. We've got a club paddler chasing promotion who attended a race which was inquorate and they didn't quite...

Re: C1 Promotion points
Jasper typically, junior paddlers results improve as the season progresses as the paddler matures, gets more race experience and paddles more during the better canoeing months and particularly the summer holidays. So, I wouldn't consider how many races a paddler has attended , just how good their be...

Re: Quorate event dilemma.
John, Under normal circumstances yes, but with some of the double Div 2s being cancelled recently, paddlers are running out of opportunities to get promoted this season. It won't matter in the long run but as you know this is not how kids who are desperate for promotion see it.

Re: Quorate event dilemma.
no one will think anything of it and we've scrabbled around in the past to make races quorate for people who hadn't decided whether to race or not. Your friend will still need to win to get promoted so that's not cheating at all. We persuaded all our newbies to race last weekend in Div 4 which incre...

Re: Opening for Entries
I don't see how setting an opening date solves the problem of those first in getting the few paddle up or officials places - it will still be whoever is organised and gets in on the relevant dates. As an organiser, it makes little odd whether Paddle up and officials are allocated on a first come fi...
