Thanks Geebs - lots of other shoulder injured paddlers out there. However, my thread is aimed at initial prevention. I.e. what exercises are coaches and paddlers doing to reduce the incidence of such injuries in the first place? Further thought, does anyone know of any canoeing injury statistics or...

Background On the Sunday of the first Llangollen weekend, I, inoccuously (no dramatic rolls etc.), hurt my shoulder (no previous known injury). The physio now suggests that I partially dislocated it. I know between what gates (11 and 13) I hurt it but have no real idea of how. The Welsh chief coach...

I am one of, I suspect, many div 1 paddlers for whom access to decent white water is not easy. Thus when I attend a div 1 race, I am already at disadvantage compared to those who have easy access to white water - even more so compared to those who are local to a particular course. Though this disad...

Some of you may be aware that Liana Jury and her fiance, Hal, were involved in an accident in September in which, tragically, Hal died. I think Kanu100's ideas for div 4 exist already to some extent - e.g.: the Llandysul river festival regularly has entrants who are first time canoeists. As to establishing grades of water for a site, obviously there are many sites which have fluctuating water levels over the year and these are not ...

So if that becomes the standard way to dry boats, what do we do on wet days. Also how many events would allow a half day's sunbathing for boats!

The rule, having been around for some time, must have been tested quite thoroughly. However, the new ICF rules ICF Slalom Rules from 1 Jan 2005 do not define what 'dry' is. Indeed they don't even contain the word 'dry' merely giving a table of Minimum Weights for boats without any associated text. T...
