Re: Back to Slaloms
It's all a bit vague. The sheer number of documents that could relate to any sport is confusing and the references often circular. I also suspect that organisations are interpreting the interpretations made by organisations further up the tree. I read https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coron...

Re: Back to Slaloms
as a slalom organiser, I'm not actually ready to take that on myself just now, so I won't be criticising anyone else for not doing it either. And this is perhaps the crux of the matter - ie lack of organisers willing to take this on. Our sport has always been run entirely by volunteers often puttin...

Re: Back to Slaloms
Scots squads are planning on running Scots champs at Pinkston by giving groups of paddlers slots to turn up so that they have less than 30 people on site at any one time. I think Welsh paddlers may be planning something similar. So non ranking comps can be run. It needs a club with a venue and organ...

Re: Back to Slaloms
British Open is highly unlikely to run, so assume no. :( Div 4s are not strictly ranking races in that paddlers are not ranked and do not get given points. They are however, the path into the ranking system and as such they are a grey area. Div 3s are true ranking races and therefore already been di...

Re: British Open/ HPPCC/SS open
Would be great, and I believe possible, to see some smaller localised competitions starting up soon. I believe that some clubs are starting to think about what they might be able to achieve.

If you want to see some of what sport is up against and, like me, find the gov website a little tricky to search at times :? , try this link https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-guidance-on-phased-return-of-sport-and-recreation/elite-sport-return-to-domestic-competition-gu...

Re: British Open/ HPPCC/SS open
Nothing is simple and the rules keep changing. I guess the real stopper is the number of people on site and the minimum number of volunteers need to run such events. Sincerely hoping ranking racing becomes possible next year, though it seems highly possible to me that we might lose the first couple ...

Re: Age Categories for the 2020/21 Racing Season
So everyone keeps posting, Keep things simple and then giving lots of options for debate. Everyone sees things differently so what is simple to one leaves gaping holes for another. It was ever this    ... Open Events. I am considering running a series of 2 or 3 Open handicapped event...

Re: Age Categories for the 2020/21 Racing Season
Are football/rugby matches running at local level? I'm not convinced that many competitors would turn up in the current environment. A local race might be doable if costs are low, but there are a lot of things to consider so would anyone be prepared to run it. We've not even met up with close friend...

Re: Age Categories for the 2020/21 Racing Season
The key word in the rule is "organised", not "run". Still ambiguous - for instance a. Race cancelled as no water could be classed as organised as it was cancelled last minute in most cases b. Yet - this year races are not organised as they are cancelled months in advance - no organising required ;)...

Re: Age Categories for the 2020/21 Racing Season
... How many votes at the AGM do clubs get who have run races this year against clubs that haven't had the opportunity to run any races this year... This is a good point, though one which would have equally applied had we kept 2020 as a separate season. At the 2018 ACM, I believe the rules for club...

Re: Age Categories for the 2020/21 Racing Season
There is no easy approach; It is a question of working with the rules, or as close to them as possible. My thoughts are that there were three options Cancel the season an pretend none of the races had taken place - this would mean cancelling any promotions achieved. I don’t think there is anything th...
