Thinking about this, does it matter? If a C2 crew had entered div 4 before but have subsequently been promoted to div 2+ in another class, they have been gaining slalom experience. That puts them in the same situation as if they had just entered C2 for the very first time - and in fact they have an...

Fair point on the NEW pairings, and I like the idea about speaking to the paddler about entering an officials run instead. The C2 still only works if they have paddled in the previous season though...how would I know if someone who is in div 1 K1 now had paddled div 4 C2 earlier this year whilst I ...

The organiser should maybe have carte blanche to decide if they are racing in an inappropriate division and up them to the next division But when would you do it, between runs? Based on the results on Saturday, we would have promoted our div 4 winner to div 2, but who knows how he'll paddle a slalo...

Thanks CD, no, we didn't get the organisers pack so downloaded all the paperwork...sticky labels would have been nice! At least putting the disclaimer on means we have pletny of room to thank sponsors etc on the title sheet, so there is a bonus...but yes, it does seem daft and completely ignored - ...

<Embarrassed mode on> Sorry! I had badgered you quite a lot about all sorts of other things though!!! That's pretty much what I came up with, which is £2.12 1/2 for a div 4 to div 3 promotion, so we charged £2 and swallowed the difference. This means we're out of pocket on the entry fee and the sin...

But thats a new comeptitor not someone who has already started in Div 4 Sorry Munchkin, on that I have to disagree, because that is definitely not what it says. It may be that it is what it means, but here again there is a discrepancy, and to "go by the book", an organiser would have to make them p...

There is nothing in the rules to allow someone who gets promoted in the K1 to get automatic promotion in the C1 and no one expects them to so why expect it in the C2? That's not necessarily true... B2.2 Any competitor wishing to compete in C1 and currently ranked higher than division 2 in any other...

I always go 'by the book', if they say they have paddled div 4 before, and they are in the div 4 listings at the back of the yearbook, then they can paddle div 4, if not, the rules about current ranking apply. But isn't that the point...where does it say that in the book, and what if they didn't ra...

Competitors of proven ability may apply for Ranking Status giving full supporting evidence why they should not have to begin in Division 4. All well and good, but I met a paddler a couple of weeks ago (who is a coach) who had never tried slalom. I told him about our event at Alva, and he came along...

Presumably this only applies if the pairing have not already competed in (and not been promoted from) div 4, as Munchkin says. I am not sure...if they have been promoted since they last paddled div 4, then they now fall foul of the rules, and as div 4 paddlers are not ranked, how do you as organise...

Has anyone come up with an easy way or working out how much a promotee has to pay (or needs to be refunded) after the first day of a double? We had several promotions at Alva from div 4 to div 3 who needed to pay more, and from div 3 to div 2 who needed a refund. There seem to be about 4 different ...

So, we get home from Alva last night, chuck the muddy computers in the hall and decide to leave the admin until today. Fresh from a good nights sleep after an event well done, we tackle the organisers handbook... <Rant mode> First, the event results MUST include the participation statement...too lo...

As the sign said at control, you needed to go to reception yesterday, where they gave you all the paperwork, relieved you of a fiver "admin charge" and issued you with a membership card for the legacy course. According to reception, yesterday was the only opportunity as they will not keep the resul...
