Is it gonna be held later this year or is that it.

I am surly not the only one that would like to see this event go ahead.

Lets hope Jim can find a slot to run it later in the year, although not much of the year left!

Popped down today and took some pics for you:-

The big marquee is up as well. It must have been a tough decision to make with all the preparation that has gone into this event thus far but with another 20+ cumecs on the way it was the right one. The ground is very boggy too so a few hundred of us tramping up and down would have made it a real messy weekend. Well done Jim and all for all the prep so far. See you all in 2009 :-)

And the div 2/3/4 course looks like it is still in place, complete with the boards out of the start pool (not that you can see them)

 I am sorry the event cannot be run on another date this year Make a date for the second weekend in September 2009. This is the first inter club cancellation in 24 years.

For information the river rose higher and higher covering the tarmac around the course (it is a flood relief channel) and within a foot of breaking over the bank into our caravans. The EA had to open the lock for extra discharge. We all had very sleepless nights. We managed to get the river turned off to get the river bed cleared thanks to the Viking 5 during Saturday Evening, before going back into flood. Due to the fact the ground was water logged the Park Authority had already banned vehicular access. The river was still in flood when we left site at 11:00 today

Poor you Jim

You and your helpers (and all those others who have been/will be involved in cancellations this year) have my sincere sympathies. It really is frustrating to put the effort into the preparation only to have to go through all the effort of cancelling with nothing to show for it. And of course, in organisational term inter-clubs is THE biggie.

And what's more I think that there's at least 250 tee shirts with no home!

Maybe they will become valuable in the future for representing the event that never happened.
