- Applications for this position close at noon, Friday 25th April 2014.

- Shortlisted candidates, who are invited to interview, will be notified by noon Monday 28th April 2014.

- Interviews and a practical assessment, including the delivery of a coaching session to athletes, will be held Thursday 8th May 2014 (planned from approx. noon to 18:00) in the Glasgow area.
At last, there is a concrete plan to put another slalom coach into Scotland. This should mean that someone should start in the post in June to eventually replace Johnny Brown and Neil Caffrey who left before Christmas.

In the interim, those in the Central area would like to say an enormous thank you to Johnny Brown and Neil Caffrey who have continued on a voluntary basis to provide quality training for those in the Scottish Squads training at Alva on a weekly training and have also committed their time and expenses to support the athletes at selection races.

Hopefully the new Coach will be able to communicate and support the squad paddlers. Whilst we wish them well it would really help if the SCA actually developed a truly National Development plan that recognised and supported the membership and paddlers across Scotland other than Upper Tayside and Alva/Pinkston. The fact that to date the one and only Gold medallist in Canoe Slalom from Scotland came from much further North seems to be missed with little interest, support or even attention from our Performance Director and his Team.
