6.3 Points for inquorate Women’s C1

Post by Secretary Man » Tue Nov 01, 2022 6:12 pm

Currently in inquorate events points awarded will be those given to the athlete in the corresponding Men’s Kayak event whose score matches the athletes modified score, which is calculated by dividing by the following factor and rounding down to the accuracy of the competition.
Our observations are that WC1 is disproportionately modified and given the relative difference in performance standards between the class should be enhanced to 1.28.
This aligns with the relative class differences for Junior team % performance when compared to the MK1. Although this is not directly applicable (as the assumption with this methodology is that the relative difference in classes at a Junior World Championship level is the same/similar at a domestic level) it gives a more robust and evidence based baseline
Class Junior team % performance difference to MK1 as % Suggested value score
MK1 <116% n/a n/a
WK1 <127% 11% 1.11
MC1 <124% 8% 1.08
WC1 <144% 28% 1.28
6.7.2 In the case where a Women’s Kayak or any Canoe event is inquorate, points awarded will be those given to the athlete in the corresponding Men’s Kayak event whose score matches the athletes modified score, which is calculated by dividing by the following factor and rounding down to the accuracy of the competition.
Women’s Kayak Singles. 1.12 1.11
Men’s Canoe Singles. 1.08
Women’s Canoe Singles. 1.20. 1.28
