6.1.2 Combined Masters / Veterans Championships

Post by Secretary Man » Tue Nov 01, 2022 6:14 pm

Proposed and seconded by The Sharks Canoe Club
This will be withdrawn if the motion above fails
With the aim of improved inclusivity, this motion aims to incentivise older athletes to race through provision of the reward of recognition of UK champions by age category, which is not possible currently without a means to unify the Veterans Division and unofficial Masters Leagues. Whilst there are no trophies (currently), we propose there be a published list of UK Champions based on ranking position in this a new, unified, Masters and Veterans ranking championship.
2.3 RANKING CHAMPIONSHIPS (UK)
Championships have been established as follows:
Premier MK1 The Phillip Hayward Rose Bowl
WK1 The Liz Sharman Trophy
MC1 The Trustee Savings Bank Trophy
WC1 The Ormskirk Trophy
C2 The Streamlyte Trophy
Division 1 MK1 The Tony Brown Trophy
WK1 The St. Pancras Building Society Trophy
MC1 The Jeff Allcock Trophy
WC1 The Slalom Committee Trophy
The athlete at the head of the ranking list for each Premier Division event is the champion for that event in that year. The Division 1 champion is the athlete, in each event, highest ranked at end of the season who has been in Division 1 during that year.
Combined Veterans and Masters Championship
The athlete at the head of the ranking list for each event, in each age group, is the UK age group champion for that year.
Hon Secretary to the British Canoeing Slalom Committee
( a different Id is used for personal rants and raves)
