ACM Discussion Area 1 - Ranking System

Post by Secretary Man » Thu Nov 09, 2023 9:29 am

Is the divisional system still worthwhile and good for the sport. Or should another system be considered. This is a point to discuss the options and approaches.
• ‘Super Prem’: merge Prem /1 for main races but have super prem for the defined athletes it smaller with less races
• French model
• How many divisions? 4,3, or open entry
• Are rolling points better?
• Only end of season promotion / demotion

• Are rolling points better?

At the ACM it was 5.30 before we got round to talking about this
just about everyone wanted to go home or were fall asleep.

So is this a consideration for next Years ACM

How Rolling points could work.

Options
1. At end of season your points are carried over to the first part of the following season. 4-6 months
2. Points gained in the second half of the season and carried over to the next season
3. Your last 4 race results are carried over to the first half of the next season
4. There is a constant 10 months of rolling point.

Advantages
1. No end of season promotion applications
2. You don’t start the following season on Zero points. So more promotions early in the season.
3. If you get a 1st at the last race of the season that gets carried over.
4. More incentive to train and push on over winter for those that have good points to carry forward

Against
