Can someone tell me what the SS stands for on the Kayak ranking list 2008 web page. Expect it's something really obvious but brain not registering today.

.. short season.. i.e got promoted during the season so unable to compete for full season in the division.

FYI

SS paddlers have protection from demotion, hence a paddler further up the end of season ranking can find themselves demoted whilst SS paddlers remain in place.

PSC paddlers are protected from demotion with agreement of the slalom committee - usually due to an injury preventing paddler from competing and/or those in the armed forces being posted overseas.
