Yeah just go straight there. We're planning on having a leaisurly start at about 11am. Don't worry if you're a bit late, I think it'll be a bit of an informal affair!

Hope to see you there.

Now then!

Today went mint (for an event organised in a couple of hours!) i think that everyone that attended was happy and we all had a good day.

Right on to tomorrow! the river level has dropped sufficiently and the 2/3 will run as a double. there will be space for a limited number of late entries, but will get under way by 10:30 prompt.

there'll be a long lunch break with some excellent food to be served and the first prize giving, the second event will start at 2pm so that we can get it all fitted in over a reasonable day.

I hope to see you all there.

Regards

Nicky

:D In the face of adversity the Tees Tigers triumphed this weekend. Not only did they provide at very short notice an alternative Div 4 yesterday but also ran a double Div 2/3 today up at Abbey Rapids, everything from the course to the catering was excellent and I have heard many glowing comments from the paddlers who took part, WELL DONE Tees Tigers and everyone who contributed to make the event the the success it was :D

Well what a busy and successful weekend for the Tees Tigers after torrential rain tried to scupper the event at Abbey Rapids, after relocating the Div 4 to the River Tees Water Sports Centre in Stockton for the Saturday. It was an early start to erect the course but was all done and ready to race by about 9am, a big thank you must go out to all those competitors that duly turned up and raced and made it the success it was. The course was duly taken down and then it was off to meet up with other club members putting up the course at Abbey. With the water still dropping a course was set and every one thought they were ready (even had time to have a BBQ in campsite), come the morning some final alterations to the course were made due to the water dropping even further and it was ready for the competition proper to start. An excellent course had been set and the race ran perfectly with no problems with the racing being close and all enjoying the water conditions. Once the 1st race was over it was time to alter the course for the 2nd race. This was done in record time and yet another course was set slightly more demanding than the first and good racing was seen again. It was a big big ask to try and run a double Div 2/3 over one day and Tees Tigers triumphed and made it look easy, everything ran smoothly with no dramas. A big thank you must again go to all the competitors that arrived and raced over both days with congratulations to all that gained promotion at the weekend. This site has been missing from the calendar for far to long and is a fantastic venue for slalom, well done on all your hard work enabling a great race to go ahead and hope you had time for a well deserved beer after the course was dismantled (hope mine tasted good Nicky). Well done to Nicky, Darren and Tonksie and everyone else at Tees Tigers for all your hard work over a busy weekend (can’t wait till next year’s race). 10 out of 10 for effort and those that couldn’t make Abbey Rapids this year put it in your diary for 2010, it is well worth the visit as the site is excellent.

Without doubt this is an excellent venue - please attend next year!
Despite being unable to compete this time round due to time considerations, the site was impressive: campsite adjacent; takeaway fulfilling; water humoungous (OK it was exceptional).......... it really does look like an excellent natural location and worthy of the support of those seeking an appropriate test of their ability level. :D
