Stafford & Stone Mini Slalom Winter Series

Post by harratts » Sat Dec 28, 2013 3:14 pm

Hi all,

The first and still the best Winter Series of Mini Slalom races is back again for 2014! :)

A handicap is applied to each race so that no matter what division you paddle in you have as much chance as anyone else at winning not just your category but the whole event. Three interesting and quite different courses have been designed by some of our up and coming paddlers to both challenge and reward those of you who are putting in some winter training effort.

Each course will be set on Saturday morning so that practise can be done on both Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning up to 10:30 of each weekend. You can enter on the day up to 10:00 as each event will commence at 11:00 on January 12th, February 2nd and February 16th.

The overall event winner will be based on combined positions from all three events after a top 10 race off has taken place at the end of the third event. To secure a prize for yourself you only need to take part in all 3 races.

You've done the training, now let's see the results and get yourself race ready for the start of the 2014 season.

Hope to see as many of you there as possible.
Steve

Hi to everyone who attended the 1st S&SCC Mini Slalom event today. 8)

We began on time at 11:00, had only a 10 minute break for lunch and finished around 17:00.

Sorry it took so long but with a record entry of 177 paddlers to get through we did our best. :?

Many thanks for everyone who entered and I hope you enjoyed the day enough to come back from round 2 on Sunday 2nd February. :)

A massive thank you to all club members who began setting up this morning and were still there cleaning up 12 hours later. :D

Thanks for a great event, guys - spirits high and organisation impeccable despite the cold outside. Hot drinks and food inside definitely helped :D

Anyone at Stone find a red Sandiline K1 winter cagdeck in men's changing room?

Hi Andy,

There were several items of clothing left behind after the 1st Mini Slalom which have been placed in a lost property box in the entrance to the club. I'm sorry to say that the item you describe is not one of them. Perhaps an individual club member has retained it to ensure that it does not go astray. I will ask around and get back to you if it is located.

Are you coming to round 2 taking place on the 2nd February? :D

Roll Up, Roll Up, Roll Up!

Round two of the magnificent Stafford & Stone CC Mini Slalom series is taking place this coming Sunday 2nd February.

Anyone can win due to the handicap system applied.

Great course. Great catering. Great prizes. Great water level.

What more could anyone want?

See you all Sunday!

We're thinking of getting there early enough tomorrow so we don't have to practice in the dark on Sunday, for a change :P

We have a family room for 4 booked at the Stafford m6 Travelodge (3 miles from stone) for this Saturday night. Unfortunately we can't go now, if someone would like to make use of it free of charge then get in touch and I will give details. Cheers, Davie. david@protoshape.co.uk or 07840 908 994

River level was quite high yesterday afternoon but course set-up and was OK to run event on.

It has dropped slightly overnight and no more rain is forecast for today.

2nd Stone mini slalom GOES AHEAD :D
