James Harrison Memorial - Water Levels

Post by carealto » Tue Apr 02, 2019 9:24 pm

We have received a message from the Environment Agency today (our usual contact was on compassionate leave all last week)

A colleague picked up that she’d arranged the release with NWL several weeks ago and confirmed that NWL were happy to release 15.4cumecs. Innogy (hydro generators at Kielder) amended the programme on the website and got an engineer to go up to try to restart the main turbine which tripped on Wednesday morning. Unfortunately this was not possible and the problem with the main turbine meant that the release had to be made manually. Without power at the site it is very difficult to judge what is being released and as a result the release varied from 7.5 cumecs to 8.5 cumecs over the weekend, before power was restored yesterday afternoon.

Hopefully we will get more water for our event in September.
