Extreme Slalom / Boater X 'early' warning

Post by Secretary Man » Fri Mar 15, 2019 3:05 pm

So the 2019 season has started and nothing has been published about Extreme Slalom / Boater X. So where are we? Well...

Currently in planning is a Boater X series across HPP, Cardiff and Lee Valley. With a points system to be able to crown an overall champion. More details as soon as we get the series sorted out.

British team selection will take place at Lee Valley on 11th May. The policy is being developed and will be published shortly. Athletes will be selected for all Slalom World Cups (that hold Extreme Slalom) that is
  • World Cup 1 in Lee Valley, in front of a home crowd,
  • World Cup 2 in Bratislava
  • World Cup 3 in Markkleeberg
  • and the Extreme Canoe Slalom World Championships in Prague.
More details to follow as they are finalised.

Hi All,

I’m pleased to confirm that Boater X is now live!

The webpage https://www.britishcanoeing.org.uk/comp ... n/boater-x is up and running as are the entry pages for each event – with the option to sign up to the series as a whole.

Is the Junior J16 basically 15 year olds like Slalom Team Selection and no Under 15s?

Selection is governed by ICF rules, as we are selecting for the team to compete abroad. ICF rule 1.4.1 says
The first year an athlete can compete in an ICF or international competition is the year of their 15th birthday.
So J16 is 15 and 16 year olds. Sorry

BUT I do not think there is that age restriction on the British Canoeing Boater X series so you are welcome to compete for the title of junior UK Boater X champion.

Post edit
Boater X/Extreme Slalom is not strong enough for Juniors to be split so international competition is Senior or under 23 or Junior. There is no J16 competition (yet).
